Suffered a career ending head injury after a hit from Boston Bruins Defenseman Eddie Shore, with the first NHL All-Star Game, and the first in any major sports league, being played as a charity benefit for him
Bailey's number 6 was the first number retired by the Maple Leafs, in the NHL, or in any major American sports league, though decades later he asked that young Leaf forward Ron Ellis be given the number, because he enjoyed his style of play
Bailey was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975, and passed away in 1992 at the age of 88
Autograph is in excellent shape with no smudging or bleeding. Page is in great condition with some light surface creasing but was removed carefully from the original album book with no rips or tears.

The signatures in this listing came from an autograph book owned by Donald Deas. He took this book to many NHL games and secured numerous signatures of NHL players. Most of the autographs in the book were secured during the 1936/1937 NHL season with a few others collected into the early 1940s. The ability to collect the signatures was facilitated by a friendship Mr. Deas had with Maple Leaf Gardens official scorer Bill Graham Jr. The autograph book had been stored away by the family over the last 80 years.
