This compact bidirectional interface is designed to connect broadcast cameras directly to SMPTE ST 2110 IP infrastructures over long distances using optical fibre. It combines camera signal transport, program return and communication features into a single small device that can be placed inline at the camera position. The design is focused on live production environments where reliability, low latency and minimal cabling are essential, while still supporting modern Ultra HD workflows.
The unit features a full‑bandwidth 12G‑SDI connection that automatically adapts to SD, HD, Ultra HD and DCI 4K formats up to 2160p60. This allows it to handle both the outgoing camera feed and the incoming SDI program return through one converter, eliminating the need for separate devices. Video is converted to and from uncompressed IP in compliance with SMPTE ST 2110, ensuring image quality is preserved and timing remains accurate throughout the production chain.
Network connectivity is provided via a single SFP socket, enabling the use of 10G optical fibre Ethernet modules for long cable runs in studios, venues and outside broadcast setups. The same SFP port also accepts 3G‑SDI, 6G‑SDI and 12G‑SDI optical modules, offering additional flexibility for facilities that mix optical SDI and IP workflows. Reclocking is built in, helping maintain stable signals when interfacing with a wide range of camera systems.
For production communication, an integrated 5‑pin XLR headset connection is included. This supports professional talkback with dedicated volume controls and a push‑to‑talk button, allowing camera operators to communicate clearly with the control room without external intercom adapters. Talkback audio is carried on channels 15 and 16 in both the SDI and IP streams, fully aligned with broadcast standards.
Powering is designed to suit both fixed and mobile deployments. The device can be powered via the 10G Ethernet connection when used with compatible PoE infrastructure, reducing cable clutter at the camera. For standalone use, a 12 V DC power supply with locking connector is included. Configuration and firmware updates are handled through USB‑C, keeping setup and maintenance straightforward in the field.
