The iconic Chemex Coffeemaker was invented in 1941, but has made a comeback in recent years as the best cafes realize the superiority of  this simple brewing method. Made simply from non-porous, borosilicate  glass and fastened with a wood collar and tie, the design has remained  unchanged for 70 years.
