Cast in bronze, this Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Father Time Limited Edition is the built around the familiar Oris Big Crown, with a smooth, ergonomic round case in 40mm of marine-grade bronze; a bright opaline white dial contrasted by a central pointer date hand with a red tip; a fluted bezel reminiscent of classic pilot’s watches; and an oversized crown, first added to an Oris watch in 1938 as a device for gloved airmen. 

This Father Time Limited Edition is named after the iconic Father Time weathervane at Lord’s, the spiritual Home of Cricket and where the legendary Marylebone Cricket Club is based. The cast-iron figure is said to represent Law 12.3 of the Laws of Cricket: “After the call of Time, the bails shall be removed from both wickets.” This signals the end of the day’s play. The watch symbolises Oris and MCC’s shared vision to bring Change for the Better and common commitment to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Only 1,926 pieces of this watch will be made, marking the year Father Time was gifted to Lord’s. Delivering in a special box set, this watch comes with both an articulated solid bronze bracelet and a strap made in Switzerland by Oris partner maker Cervo Volante from sustainably sourced deer leather. 

The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date is, without question, the most important watch in Oris' rich history. First introduced in 1938 as a pilot’s watch, it has been a collection mainstay ever since, becoming Oris’s signature design. Its oversized crown was originally intended for gloved airmen but now serves a more aesthetic purpose, while the iconic pointer date function is now internationally recognized as a symbol of Oris’s mechanical inventiveness. It’s powered by the Oris Calibre 754, which fuels the brand's enigmatic Pointer Date function, whereby a central, red-tipped hand points to a date scale running around the perimeter of the dial.
