This panel was an experimental surface in the studio during my fieldwork project.  Laying down a few marks at a time with spare paint or when an idea hit, eventually it came to resemble the colours of our local coastal rocks and I worked the panel from my bowl of "reference rocks", creating a kind of negative space of beach pebbles with the rock colours as undertone.

Basically, it's a fun piece exploring the various coastal surfaces in a different way.  An eye-catching, bold piece of decor that would really suit a room with black/charcoal walls, or items such as chairs or cushions matching the yellow/earth tones.
