Issued in 1965 by the Republic of Rwanda, this elegant two-stamp set honors Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865), the 16th President of the United States, symbolizing freedom and equality. Each stamp features a finely engraved portrait of Lincoln, paired with the inscriptions “Liberté, Honneur, Égalité” — echoing ideals he championed. The 10-centime value appears in green and the 20-centime in brown, both showing refined typographic design and classic composition typical of mid-1960s Rwandan issues printed by Enschedé. These stamps are part of Rwanda’s early post-independence commemoratives celebrating international figures of liberty.
