In the late 1960s, Canada's largest city experienced a musical boom as Caribbean immigrants made Toronto their new home. The best ska, rocksteady and reggae recording artists of the era - the founders of Studio One, Treasure Isle and Trojan Records - simply did what came to mind. One by one, they went into the studio and recorded some of the hardest songs this side of Kingston. Together, they broke down racial and cultural barriers and formed an unprecedented and little-known Canadian soul & reggae community. This compilation describes this crucial sonic migration in detail.
