Claude Achille Debussy, born in August 1862 and died in March 1918, was one of the greatest composers of the French modern era. During this period, Japonisme had a great influence on Impressionist musicians. Debussy can be considered the first Western musician to adopt Japonisme. Debussy also loved Japanese art, and the cover of his symphonic poem "The Sea" is decorated with Katsushika Hokusai's "Kanagawa-okihaura," and his piano piece "The Golden Fish" was inspired by a maki-e box with a scarlet carp swimming in it. Debussy's music is extremely tranquil, with dotted notes that linger for a long time, and the flow of the music gives a gentle, parallel impression. The flow of the music is gentle and parallelistic. This is what one might call Japaneseness. His impressionistic music (although Debussy never admitted that he was an "impressionist") is characterized by melodies that pursue the acoustic effects created by instantaneous changes in sound color, rather than by beautiful melodies and well-defined musical structures. The album covers Debussy's popular and rare works, selected from the best performances of the current French Erato sound sources, and offers sounds, colors, and even a hint of fragrance.
