Stories are the ancestral bloodlines of the Autonomous Sinixt – what they share and pass down generationally are the memories that flow through their veins and carry culture and connection to their təmxʷulaʔxʷ, their homeland.

The second edition of Not Extinct: Keeping the Sinixt Way, published by Maa Press, invites readers to engage with the stories of Sinixt təmxʷulaʔxʷ through lively oral storytelling, original artwork, written discussion, and reflection. Three new stories and many updates touch on critical issues such as Indian Residential Schools, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, Sinixt cosmology, salmon reintroduction, MMIW and the contemporary treaty process.

Following further work with the Sinixt dialect, snselxcin, through the T’kikstn Language Revitalization Project, they’ve also added and updated Sinixt words in the text.

This second edition contains about 30% new material, including three new stories. Edited and published by Blood of Life Collective member K.L. Kivi, with book design by Amélie Blanchard, and cover art by Tyler Toews.
