Julian Large is one of the leading guitarists in contemporary jazz. He has played with many jazz legends such as Gary Burton and Charles Lloyd, and has been praised as a "natural talent" by the New York Times. The Layers" is now available! This EP was recorded in the same session as the previous album "Vue With A Room". It is a sequel to the album, so to speak, and contains six original songs. As on the previous album, the trio consists of bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Dave King, with Bill Frisell again guesting on five songs. The two have performed together in a variety of contexts, including duo concerts and a project conceived by John Zorn, but this time they present a must-hear combination that seems to explore new orchestral possibilities. Also noteworthy is the extensive use of acoustic guitar in this work. About this work, Julian says, "This work is like a prequel to the album 'Vue with a Room.It contains all the musical seeds of the previous album's touchstones: the duo with Bill, the duo with Jorge, the more expansive songs, and Dave and Jorge's wonderful sense of rhythm and orchestration.
