This album is etched in rock history as one of the great success stories of a change of course. Eric Clapton emerged as one of the guitar heroes in the 1960s and was highly influential. With this album, the British superstar boldly transformed himself and pursued a new musical style. Clapton had transformed from a flamboyant top guitarist into a versatile recording artist, who played less technically and flamboyantly, and instead focused more on the music of the ensemble.
