Boy Pablo
Description:
Boy Pablo, the project of indie-pop darling Pablo Munoz from Bergen, Norway. Three and a half years after his hit single "Everytime" and the release of his debut album, Wachito Rico, Nicolas Munoz aka Boy Pablo is ready to reintroduce himself. His career began in 2017 with the pop anthem "Everytime," but since then he has become more connected to the arts than ever before. Originally, Boy Pablo was a project that Munoz, now 21, started just for fun, but he has honed a consistent creative vision and become a full-fledged force to be reckoned with on the indie-pop scene. Wachito Rico" is a hybrid of concept and autobiography. Wachito Ric," which means "handsome boy" in Chilean and is also the idea of loving someone, is the overarching theme and character that Munoz has placed at the center of the album.Throughout the piece, Munoz introduces listeners to his Alter Ego love story, which is reflected in the video over "Everytime. That introduction becomes the lead single, "Hey Girl." While "Wachito Ric" exists as a character, the album comes from a personal place for Munoz. The songs derive from the joys and pains experienced in his childhood. But the heavier moments are overshadowed by a light, spontaneous tone.Since Boy Pablo started in 2015, Munoz has primarily written and produced songs as a solo artist. However, Wachito Rico introduces more collaboration than ever before; Munoz collaborated with his brother Esteban Munoz and brother-in-law Erik Thorsheim in writing and recording sessions throughout 2019 to broaden his horizons and vision. Munoz's Latin American and Norwegian backgrounds were combined to create an atmosphere rooted in deep affection.Born in Norway to Chilean parents, Munoz learned to play the drums at age 6 and mastered the guitar at 10, and has been influenced by everything from Blink-182 and Green Day to Latin music and The Beatles. When he was in high school, Munoz gathered a group of friends to play a show at school, playing songs he had written. Boy Pablo was born. His friends Gabriel Munoz, Eric Tryland, Henrik Amdal, and Sigmund Vestrheim are still members of Boy Pablo's live band. Wachito Rico is an album of raw songwriting and nostalgic anthems, and serves as a mature follow-up to the 2018 EP Soy Pablo Munoz fuses retro sounds with California melodies and a strong sense of "Every Everytime" and created the perfect segue between it and this debut album.Wachito Rico" proves not only the growth of Nicolas Munoz, aka Boy Pablo, but that he is more than just an Internet phenomenon.
