Latin Name: Bergenia 'Rotblum'
Description: Commonly known as Elephant ears, this clump forming perennial boasts erect clumps of dark pink, downward-facing bell flowers with light-green centres surrounded by a delicate ring of white stamens. They rise atop thick, red, sturdy stems from early to late in the spring season, and often once again in the fall. Beneath the showy blooms lies a bed of large, shiny, lily-pad-like leaves, which turn a lovely reddish-bronze colour in the fall and winter. Low-maintenance and easy to grow, this specimen is an excellent choice for a ground cover in a shady area.
