Keith Jarrett
Description:
Here is the overwhelming art of solo piano, where imagination is vivid and brilliant. Keith Jarrett, one of the most influential pianists in the world of jazz and the art of improvisation, performs solo piano live at La Fenice Theater in Venice in July 2006. In addition to the improvisational pieces that are synonymous with Keith's solo piano, the 2-CD set includes 12 songs, including "The Sun Hooves Rays," written by William S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan for the opera "The Mikado," which was first performed in 1985, and the standard "Stella in Starlight," among others. Keith Jarrett will be the first to release a new album on the label. On Saturday, September 29, immediately following the release of this album, Keith Jarrett will become the first jazz musician to be awarded the Golden Lion for Music at the Venice Biennale, an international exhibition that has been held every two years since 1895. The prize has been awarded in the past to contemporary composers such as Pierre Boulez and Steve Reich.
