Description:

Jimi Hendrix came to London at the end of '66! The rare live collection of his debut show! Including his first TV appearance and legendary live performance at the Flamingo Club! The first song is from his first TV appearance on December 29th, 1966 at the Flamingo Club. The first song is "Hey Joe" from their first TV appearance at Top of the Pops on December 29, 1966. This is a live performance of that very song. Two songs are performed live at the long-established Marquee Club in London, where Peter Barakan and others who saw the show at the time testified that they were shocked by the show, and where Jimi is often seen in the military outfit in the photos. Current Youtube and other videos of the show are not satisfactory, as the intro to the songs is missing and the introduction by the presenter is incomplete. This CD contains the complete uncut version. The highlight of this CD is the first 45-minute live show at the Flamingo Club in London on February 4, 1967, when Jimi and the band were playing club shows all over London after their TV appearance at the beginning of the year. This is the earliest full live recording of the transition from the two-song TV show to the less than one-hour club show. Unfortunately, the sound quality is a bit distorted due to the preservation condition, but Jimi's singing and guitar are captured well. After a high-energy performance of "Killing Floor," which was the standard first song at their debut show, the second song is "Mercy, Mercy. This R&B classic is also known for its cover by the Rolling Stones, but the original was by Don Covay. The guitarist who played on the studio version of the song was Jimi, who was not yet a successful musician. It's a really hot take that starts with a strong intro with hammering little tricks.Jimi, who had already become a hot topic through his TV appearances, performed B. Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" with ease as the Londoners gathered to catch a glimpse of him. The blues song "Catfish Blues" was played with Jimi's Strat. After touring Europe and the U.K., Jimi appeared at the Monterey Pop Festival in the U.S., where he made his international breakthrough with a performance in which he set his guitar on fire. Please enjoy the performance of the Jimi Hendrix Experience just before their breakthrough. This is from the "ROCK OFF" series by Eternal Grooves.
