George Michael 1996 classic album "Older" (digitally remastered in 2022)George Michael, who passed away on December 25, 2016 at the age of 53, wrote, composed, arranged, recorded and produced the classic album "Older", which was released on May 13, 1996 (he was 32 years old at the time). Originally released on Virgin Records in 1996, "Older" spent three consecutive weeks on the UK Albums Chart and remained in the Top 10 for a total of 35 weeks. Six songs were cut as singles from the album, including "Fast Love" (which George admirer Adele gave a memorable and moving tribute performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards ceremony) and the deeply and quietly moving "Jesus To A Child," both of which reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart. The other four songs also reached the Top 3. Four other songs also reached the Top 3.The album was certified 6 x platinum in the UK and platinum in 22 other countries, and has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, surpassing the success of his previous album, Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). Older" was George's third solo album, following "Faith" (1987) and "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1" (1990), and it marked his experimentation with new musical styles and the expansion of his artistic horizons. At the same time, this album, hailed by critics as "an achievement," chronicles a period of tremendous adversity in his life, one of his most tumultuous, both professionally and personally.
