(Original release: 1969/Sire Records)This is the first album released on Bill Graham's label by the three members, who were popular as a support act for the Grateful Dead before their record debut in San Francisco in the late 1960s. The album consists of seven long blues jam numbers, including a cover of "Tobacco Road. The power trio style of the album evokes the influence of the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream, and the studio live-style production directly conveys the heat of the stage at the time, capturing the wild and primitive appeal of the group in all its glory.
