Hardcover | 27 x 3 x 26 cm | 160 pp
Unicorn Press | 2025 | 9781916846647
Chris Orr, the well known British painter and printmaker, takes us on a tour of his prodigious and penetrating vision of the world over the last twelve years.
Chris Orr was made a fellow of the Royal College of Art in 1985, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers in 1988 and a Royal Academician in 1995. He received an MBE for services to the Arts in 2008. He lives and works in London.
When Chris Orr asked Richard Davey to visit his studio to talk about collaborating on a book about his drawings and watercolours, Davey didn't know what to expect. Like many people, he was aware of his prints, with their satirical humour and complex, witty visual narratives. But he was unaware of the many drawings and watercolours Orr has made over the years, sometimes as preparatory drawings that might lead to prints, sometimes
made directly on his travels, sometimes as a way of exploring an idea or scratching a political itch.
This book takes the reader on a similar trip to Chris Orr's studio to learn about his methods, his tribulations and pleasure in the creative process.
