Description:
[Cherry Red Records Masterpiece Reissue Series] A post-punk/new wave band formed in January 1978 by frontman Bido and guitarist Lester Squire, both of whom have Indian heritage. The band's unique sound and mysterious pop sensibility that mastered various musical styles is considered the origin of neo-acoustic and guitar-pop music. The band broke up in 1985, reunited in 1990, broke up for the second time in 1998, but reformed again in 2008, and is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2018. Volume, Contrast, Brilliance" was released in May 1983 and is a compilation album that seems to sum up their early years. The album includes singles from the Rough Trade era, alternate takes, unreleased songs, radio sessions, and even Bid's solo material released after the first breakup, with radio appearances, commercials, and interviews inserted between songs. This is not only a collection of rare tracks, but also a best-of-background album that is still loved by many fans.
