Prince is one of the most important and influential artists in history. He has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, won an Academy Award in 1985, and has received a total of seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award in 2006, and countless other music awards. Prince is one of the greatest icons and treasures of all time, and has been named number 27 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Prince will forever be remembered as a dominant live performer, chart-topping recording artist, and music industry revolutionary. In addition to his four decades in the spotlight, he has also devoted himself tirelessly to the development of many young artists whom he admires and respects. Now, from Prince's vast treasure trove of recordings comes an extraordinary treasure that shines forth with tremendous brilliance.He has written many songs for other artists, but he actually recorded all of them himself and delivered them to the artists in a near-perfect form. While releasing his own hit albums, Prince was also working on songs for Prince Family members The Time, Vanity 6, Sheila E, Apollonia 6, Jill Jones, The Family, and Mazarati. The original Prince demo was eventually used as the master take for their album, with only minor modifications, such as minor instrumental modifications and vocal replacements.In other cases, the artists used Prince's initial demo recordings as a guide to the final recordings. The songs on "ORIGINALS," a compilation of Prince's original demos (though the quality of the recordings is far beyond the realm of demos), are the defining songs in each artist's musical career. Sheila E.'s "The Glamorous Life" reached #1 on the dance charts in 1984 (#7 on the pop charts), the Bangles' "Manic Monday" reached #2 on the pop charts, and The Time's "Jungle Love" reached #20. ORIGINLS" also includes these familiar songs, as well as "Make-Up" by Vanity 6, "Baby, You're A Trip" by Jill Joos, and "You're My Love" by Kenny Rogers.In addition to these previously unreleased recordings, the album also includes the original 1984 version of "Nothing Compares 2 U," which was released as a single in 2018 and caused quite a stir.
